   The arts can convey all of the emotions of the human condition and remind us what it was like to be alive.
2. biplanes:
   I flew one in the Great War and have been inextricably in love with them ever since (although I resent the attention the Sopwith Camel has received - it was a serviceable enough plane, but I much prefer my beloved SE5a.
3. charlie chaplin:
   He was my first film hero. He could make you laugh and cry at the same time.
4. clara bow:
   She was my first matinee crush, although she intimidated me mightily with her sexuality and aggressive nature. Ironic, that, all things considered....
5. don henley:
   I believe he is one of the finest songwriters and folk philosophers of 20th century America. He also writes some decidedly catchy tunes.

   "Those who forget their history are condemned to repeat it."
7. mary pickford:
   Ah, yes. America's sweetheart. She was lovely, just lovely. I was so enamored of her big dark eyes and long dark hair.
8. movies:
   Film is a wonderful form of escape and a link to the man I once was. It can make me feel when sometimes I forget how.
9. the eagles:
   The source of Don Henley's success.
10. vampires:
    No comment. Not an interest so much as a required area of knowledge. Sometimes I wish I had never learned a thing about it.
